september rescheduling - a necessary process

You may wonder why we turn the whole swim school upside down once a year. As most of our pupils start the term with exciting new schedules for nursery, school, 'big' school and even other after school activities we have so many requests for time changes which greatly effects our teaching schedule.

We also need to restructure many of the classes as children progress at different stages and in order for the classes to run smoothly and maintain our pupils progress, this natural shift needs to be accommodated also.

Classes are streamlined throughout the year, but in September we restructure for the year ahead. For us, this is a necessary process and we do our best to accommodate everyone’s requests the best that we can. Thank you for your understanding.

new class time for september 2011

Please contact us during the week of the 18th July to find out your allocated class for the new term in September. You can do this via email, telephone or simply ask at reception. Swimming for the new term begins again on Tuesday the 30th August 2011.

a very sad goodbye

Unfortunately Amy is leaving us. Amy has been part of our team for a long time and has worked at both our Kensington and Chiswick pools. However it's good news as Amy has been accepted on a university placement in her chosen career and we are all very excited for her.

Amy is thrilled with her placement however is very sad to being saying goodbye to all her kiddies she has taught over the years. We will all - her kiddies included - miss her a great deal!

Good Luck Amy, we wish you the best for your journey!

cancellations

Parents wanting to cancel lessons before the end of the term please remember we need 4 consecutive swimming weeks notice. Your cancellations must be received in writing by the 1st July at the latest.

Parents please note that as our regular scheduled classes cease for the month of August (the summer break) no accounts are debited for this month. Regular lessons and payments begin again in September.

royal wedding

We had a wonderful day watching Kate and Will's tie the knot. We celebrated with lots of cake and biscuits and cheered the newly weds with our cups of juice.

It took a while to take down all of our bunting however it was a super occasion and we are all very pleased to have been a part of it.

Congratulations to Kate and William, we wish them much happiness together...

the bt swimathon - results

BT Charity Swimathon

The Swimathon has been completed and the sponsorship money is in, so it’s congratulations to Laura’s team as they are the proud winners of the time challenge of the BT Swimathon.

"A happy bunch before the swim" - from left: Billy, Bettina, Laura, Will, Maria, Taryn and Annika.

We’d like to say well done to everyone individually as they all swam so well after weeks of training (considering some hadn’t been training for a very long time), however Laura’s team beat Kirsten’s team to the post by 2 minutes!

All is not lost however for Kirsten’s team as they managed to raise more in sponsorship money and have therefore won the sponsorship challenge by a fair margin raising a total of £1178.00. Thanks to all of you who sponsored the teams but especially to Annika who raised the most - a total of £437.00.

So after a very successful event both teams together have raised £1,839.00 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Well done to those who swam and a very big ‘Thank You’ for those who sponsored and supported.

survival skills week

During the week of 27 June - 2 July (incl.) we will once again be running our personal survival skills week. This week is aimed at helping our pupils to be more aware of any dangers whilst swimming during the coming summer holidays.

Where is it safe to swim, what dangers to look out for, how to help someone in trouble and swimming with clothes on - are just a few of the skills they will learn.

The week is aimed at our pupils from level 4* upwards and they will need to bring the following items to their swimming lesson that week – these items are to be worn over their usual swimming costumes.

  • Pyjama top or a long sleeve vest or shirt.
  • Pyjama bottoms or light trousers.
  • Chunky socks.
  • If possible, a pair of clean shoes that can get wet.
  • Swimming cap as normal.
  • Please note: no goggles shall be allowed during the lesson.

We have found this week to be very helpful for our pupils and parents so please remember to bring their clothes. Thank you

*If you are not aware of your child’s level, please speak to reception – 020 8834 7442.
